WDW Hotel

How to do a Disney painting without looking "Disney".  The Contemporary Hotel at Walt Disney World at night is an interesting hotel anyway but I really enjoyed this angle. 

First time using yupo!

Just heard today that this painting was accepted into the California Watercolor Association 44th National Exhibition.  Juror was Elaine Daily-Birnbaum who selected 70 paintings from 747 images submitted by 346 artist.

Translucent Flowers

Using flowers, I created an abstract pattern.  The kaleidoscope feel is intentional.  On a half sheet of Arches.

Here is the Glenda character with Katie after Wicked.  I believe I might go back and add a bold color on the edge.  It feels like it needs an extra pull.  On Arches half sheet.

I need to go back to the "thick" painted shapes.  They seem to accent this series of faces better than the transparent washes.  On Arches half sheet.

Michaela's wedding

The negative shape was a brighter sunset but I changed it to an evening view with something like fireworks in the sky.  On an Arches half sheet.

Nessarose and Katie

Another view after Wicked  I was very pleased how giving the acting crew was with Katie.  I enjoy large faces with patterns in the other shapes.  On Arches half sheet.

A triple portrait where I enjoyed the use of the red shape vs. repeating the the larger shape's color.  On an arches half sheet.

Orange Susan

I liked this piece but it is a little odd with the orange.  The left orange side was adjusted with the white.  On Arches half sheet.

Cowboy with a Music Box

I saw this guy singing with "Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl" ( Toy Story 2), Miss Devon Dawson from Fort Worth, TX.  This is on an Arches half sheet.

Just found out this piece was accepted by juror  Don Andrews for the forthcoming NWS 2013 Member Exhibition held at NWS headquarters in San Pedro, California.
